What are the terms of service for using AnchorFree Wi-Fi?

We have two basic agreements for hotspot owner/operators:

How do I enable the AnchorFree Homepage to be the default landing page for all users served by my AnchorFree Wi-Fi router?

By default, your AnchorFree router is configured to enable the AnchorFree Welcome Page as the default landing page for all new users. To check the configuration, see the attached document.

How can I configure firewall and port forwarding rules for the purpose of securing my router or creating secure remote access to my network.

The AnchorFree router acts as a firewall and supports firewall rules. See the attached document for accessing the Firewall Configuration interface.

Can the AnchorFree router wireless signal strength be increased?

In order to get more distance from your AnchorFree router, we recommend using the following antenna (not included from AnchorFree, you must purchase):

Model number: WLE-HG-NDC

Or, if you're trying to send the signal in one direction, you can use this one.

Model number: WLE-AT-DACW

Can the network name/ID be changed on the AnchorFree router?

Yes. Follow the steps below.

  1. Access the router WebUI - http://192.168.5.1
    (Default username/password is admin/wireless4u or admin/wireless)
  2. Click on the 'Network' link and then the 'Wireless' link
  3. Enter the desired network name in the 'ESSID' field
  4. Click Save Changes then Apply Changes if both are visibly required)

Attached document contains an illustration.

Why are users are getting knocked offline frequently?

If your location has has a 2.4 GHz cordless phone in use, your router will go offline when the phone is ringing or in use. Cordless phones that operate at 2.4 GHz are known to interfere with electronic devices such as microwaves, baby monitors and the some Wi-Fi routers. The best way around this problem is to upgrade your phone to a 5.8 GHz phone. The next best alternative would be to locate the router at least 20 feet from the phone. Sometimes, changing the wireless channel of the router form Auto to 6 can help.

To change the channel, access the router Web User Interface from your Web browser (192.168.5.1). The username and password are typically set to admin/wireless4u (or possibly there is no password).

Next, click on the Network link, then the Wireless link.

In the Wireless Configuration section, change the Channel from Auto to 6.

Click Save Changes, then Apply Changes.

If the router does not auto restart, click the Reboot link and follow the prompts.

See attached image.
