Why are users are getting knocked offline frequently?
If your location has has a 2.4 GHz cordless phone in use, your router will go offline when the phone is ringing or in use. Cordless phones that operate at 2.4 GHz are known to interfere with electronic devices such as microwaves, baby monitors and the some Wi-Fi routers. The best way around this problem is to upgrade your phone to a 5.8 GHz phone. The next best alternative would be to locate the router at least 20 feet from the phone. Sometimes, changing the wireless channel of the router form Auto to 6 can help.
To change the channel, access the router Web User Interface from your Web browser (192.168.5.1). The username and password are typically set to admin/wireless4u (or possibly there is no password).
Next, click on the Network link, then the Wireless link.
In the Wireless Configuration section, change the Channel from Auto to 6.
Click Save Changes, then Apply Changes.
If the router does not auto restart, click the Reboot link and follow the prompts.
